Mrs Ben Ayade Sues For Patronage Of Local Designers

The Wife of the Cross River State Governor, Mrs Linda Ayade has pledged her continued support to Cite Nigeria Limited towards the promotion of locally made designs which is the main objective of the organization.
Mrs Ayade made the pledge in Calabar, the Cross River State Capital during the 2016 Calabar Fashion Show organized by the company in conjunction with the office of the wife of the Governor.
Speaking at the Ceremony, Mrs Ayade maintained that the idea behind the Calabar Fashion show is to promote fashion which are locally made and its contents in order to encourage local designs and discourage importation of foreign materials.
She said: “The Calabar Fashion Show will focus on local content, local designers with home grown ideas transforming local fabric to beauty.
“I believe that our rich cultural heritage is enough to form the basis for a new clothing line and a new name to be registered in the fashion design world”.
She maintained that eco-tourism is one of the major flagships of Cross River state, “when visitors come into the state they should be able to transport our culture and fashion to their own countries”.
She added: “Fashion shows like this one emphasize the viability of the fashion industry in the state. The building of a garment factory in Calabar was not a mistake and can open new vistas in development, apart from providing jobs for thousands of Cross Riverians”.
The event featured award presentation, goodwill messages exhibition/fashion runway, comedies, dance crews, green carpet, amongst others.

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in Imo state has continued its raid on independent petroleum marketers who sell fuel above the government approved price of 145 naira per litre. During its routine monitoring of four Local Government areas in Imo state Aboh, Ezinihitte, Ahiazu Mbaise and Obowo Local Governments, seven filling stations were sealed due to hoarding, under-dispensing and selling above regulated pump price. Senator Isiaka Adeleke Dies At 62

A member of the Nigerian Senate, representing Osun West Senatorial district, Isiaka Adeleke, has died at 62. A family source who spoke to Channels Television under the condition of anonymity, said Adeleke died at Biket hospital in Osogbo at 6:00am on Sunday. When his corpse was brought to his home in Ede town, the atmosphere became tense with friends and family members weeping uncontrollably. As at the time of filling the report, the body had been taken to the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo for autopsy. Mr Adeleke, who was the first governor of the state in 1992, under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), was elected into the Senate in 2015 as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Passengers Accuse Dana Air Of Neglect After Port Harcourt Mishap

The passengers of the near crash landing of Dana Plane at Port Harcourt International Airport are lamenting over what they describe as utter neglect being experienced since the incident occurred. According to them, no one has come forward to explain what transpired yesterday evening or inform them about how to access their luggage. One of the passengers also informed our correspondent that contrary to reports, the plane landed normally, but could not explain what happened thereafter. Meanwhile, Dana Air has refuted claims that they (passengers) have been treated with neglect.
