FG To Renegotiate 2009 Agreement With ASUU

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the membership of a Federal Government team to renegotiate the 2009 agreement with the staff unions in the Federal Universities, Federal Polytechnics and Federal Colleges of Education.
This is aimed at engendering sustainable peace and industrial harmony in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
The 16-member team is chaired by Dr. Wale Babalakin, a Senior Advocate
of Nigeria (SAN).
Babalakin, who was adjudged the best pro-chancellor at the time of the negotiations in 2009, headed the agreement implementation committee then.
In a related development, President Buhari has also approved the reconstitution of the governing councils of University of Port Harcourt and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, which were dissolved in the recent crises that engulfed the two institutions.
The new governing councils would serve for a term of four years, in the first
instance, effective from December 28, 2016.
Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu who announced these on Friday,
said that the renegotiation team wiould dialogue with the Academic
Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) and Non Academic Staff Union of Associated and Allied Institutions (NASU).

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in Imo state has continued its raid on independent petroleum marketers who sell fuel above the government approved price of 145 naira per litre. During its routine monitoring of four Local Government areas in Imo state Aboh, Ezinihitte, Ahiazu Mbaise and Obowo Local Governments, seven filling stations were sealed due to hoarding, under-dispensing and selling above regulated pump price. Senator Isiaka Adeleke Dies At 62

A member of the Nigerian Senate, representing Osun West Senatorial district, Isiaka Adeleke, has died at 62. A family source who spoke to Channels Television under the condition of anonymity, said Adeleke died at Biket hospital in Osogbo at 6:00am on Sunday. When his corpse was brought to his home in Ede town, the atmosphere became tense with friends and family members weeping uncontrollably. As at the time of filling the report, the body had been taken to the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo for autopsy. Mr Adeleke, who was the first governor of the state in 1992, under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), was elected into the Senate in 2015 as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Passengers Accuse Dana Air Of Neglect After Port Harcourt Mishap

The passengers of the near crash landing of Dana Plane at Port Harcourt International Airport are lamenting over what they describe as utter neglect being experienced since the incident occurred. According to them, no one has come forward to explain what transpired yesterday evening or inform them about how to access their luggage. One of the passengers also informed our correspondent that contrary to reports, the plane landed normally, but could not explain what happened thereafter.
