Car Bomb Hits Four U.N. Guards In Somalia’s Capital

A car bomb wounded at least four U.N. guards when it exploded near a United Nations compound in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Wednesday, police said.
Al Qaeda-allied al Shabaab insurgents claimed responsibility for the attack.
“We can confirm that four guards working for the United Nations were injured,” Major Nur Osman, a police officer at the scene, told Reuters.
The bomb was planted in a car parked in a garage outside facilities belonging to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Osman said.
“We are behind the blast that injured at least three U.N. guards this morning,” al Shabaab’s spokesperson on military operations, Sheikh Abdiasis Abu Musab, said.
The militants often carry out such attacks in the capital in their fight to topple the Western-backed government and impose an strict interpretation of Islam on Somali territory.

Senator Isiaka Adeleke Dies At 62

A member of the Nigerian Senate, representing Osun West Senatorial district, Isiaka Adeleke, has died at 62. A family source who spoke to Channels Television under the condition of anonymity, said Adeleke died at Biket hospital in Osogbo at 6:00am on Sunday. When his corpse was brought to his home in Ede town, the atmosphere became tense with friends and family members weeping uncontrollably. As at the time of filling the report, the body had been taken to the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo for autopsy. Mr Adeleke, who was the first governor of the state in 1992, under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), was elected into the Senate in 2015 as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The passengers of the near crash landing of Dana Plane at Port Harcourt International Airport are lamenting over what they describe as utter neglect being experienced since the incident occurred.
