Governor Bello Sacks Niger State SSG, Appoints Isah Ladan

Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello, has sacked the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Danyaya, as a result of non-performance.
The Governor made the disclosure on Monday through his Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Jonathan Vatsa.
The former SSG, who hails from Kontagora Local Government, has been replaced by a chieftain of the APC in Niger State, Mr Isah Ladan.
Mr Ladan, has worked with the Federal Character Commission, was inaugurated immediately and has resumed office as directed by Governor Bello.

Soyinka Condemns Call To End BBOG Activities

Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has condemned the call for the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) campaigners to end their actions. Professor Soyinka says the attempt by security operatives to stop the protesters is not in the interest of democracy. He stated his disapproval on Thursday at an event in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria. He Nobel laureate insisted that the BBOG campaigners, who are campaigning for the rescue of the missing Chibok girls, were merely expressing their democratic rights rather than constituting public nuisance. FG Concerned About Welfare of Soldiers

The Minister of Defence, Major General Mansur Dan Ali, says the welfare of officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces remains a key priority of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. He stated this during the commissioning of a Mental Rehabilitation Centre and newly remodeled wards at the 44 Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna State. The minister said the establishment of the centre and rehabilitation of the hospital is a significant milestone of the Nigerian Army’s quest to provide qualitative healthcare for troops and their families.
