INEC Trains Staff On Social Media Use

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is appealing to social media users to obtain updated and precise information from INEC’s social media platforms rather than resort to rumours and gossips that tend to mislead.
The Director, Voters Education Publicity at INEC, Oluwole Uzzi, made the appeal at a workshop for INEC voter education staff in Edo State.
The workshop was to train the staff on the use of social media for voter enlightenment and information dissemination.
Mr Uzzi expressed hope that the use of the ‘My INEC’ app as well as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and the INEC hotlines would further serve as a means of mobilizing more Nigerians to participate in the democratic process.

Algerian attacker and Leicester City player, Riyad Mahrez has been named the African Footballer of the Year 2016. He was announced winner at the 2016 Glo CAF Awards which held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city on Thursday. Mahrez beat Gabonese striker, Pierre Emerick Aubamenyang who was last year’s winner and Senegal’s Sadio Mane to win the African Best Player crown. It was a good night for Nigeria as Asisat Oshoala won the award for Women Player of the Year. Most Promising Player of the Year Award went to Nigeria and Manchester City youngster, Kelechi Iheanacho, while his compatriot in Arsenal, Alex Iwobi won the Youth Player of the Year. Wike Calls On Nigerians To Support Families Of Slain Officers

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has called on Nigerians to make direct investments in the lives of legionnaires and the families of late servicemen, who lost their lives defending the territorial integrity of the country. The governor made this known on Friday while speaking at the 2017 Emblem Appeal Launch marking the Armed Forces and Remembrance Day Celebration in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He said the families of slain servicemen and legionnaires deserve all the support they can get from the people. “There is need for us to give them the required support.
