Ahead of Buhari’s commissioning; Amaechi, Oyegun inspect Abuja-Kaduna rail line

In preparation for commissioning on Tuesday by President Muhammadu Buhari the Minister of Transportation, Mr Chubuike Amaechi yesterday went on inspection tour of the Abuja-Kaduna rail line and was ambushed by the passengers while on inspection he could not but submit to the plea of the passengers who were at the stations .
Ameachi led a team of All Progressives Congress (APC) with the National Chairman of Chief John Odigie Oyegun, on the inspection tour.

Three communities in Adamawa state, have been thrown into mourning following an attack by herdsmen which has led to the death of three policemen scores of villagers and the abduction of one. At Kwayine village, some of the residents were seen burying the dead in the early hours of Sunday. The attack, coming after various alerts by the Adamawa community of fears about a likely attack, has left on its trail, damaged houses and abandoned police vehicles. Residents have however called on the authorities to provide better security to prevent further attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

CAF Awards: Mahrez Is Africa’s Best Footballer In 2016

Algerian attacker and Leicester City player, Riyad Mahrez has been named the African Footballer of the Year 2016. He was announced winner at the 2016 Glo CAF Awards which held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city on Thursday. Mahrez beat Gabonese striker, Pierre Emerick Aubamenyang who was last year’s winner and Senegal’s Sadio Mane to win the African Best Player crown. It was a good night for Nigeria as Asisat Oshoala won the award for Women Player of the Year. Most Promising Player of the Year Award went to Nigeria and Manchester City youngster, Kelechi Iheanacho, while his compatriot in Arsenal, Alex Iwobi won the Youth Player of the Year. The record-breaking Super Falcons of Nigeria rode on the back of their triumph at the 2016 African Women’s Nations Cup to emerge Women’s National Team of the Year. Wike Calls On Nigerians To Support Families Of Slain Officers

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has called on Nigerians to make direct investments in the lives of legionnaires and the families of late servicemen, who lost their lives defending the territorial integrity of the country. The governor made this known on Friday while speaking at the 2017 Emblem Appeal Launch marking the Armed Forces and Remembrance Day Celebration in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He said the families of slain servicemen and legionnaires deserve all the support they can get from the people. “There is need for us to give them the required support. We must take legionnaires and families of slain servicemen as important as we take ourselves. “This is because they fought for this nation.
