Manchester United Advance Into Europa Semis

Manchester United on Thursday beat Anderlecht 2-1 to qualify for the semi-final of the UEFA Europa League.
With the first leg ending 1-1, Henrikh Mkhitaryan put United ahead at the Old Trafford, just before Sofiane Hanni equalised with a close-range finish.
Though the Red Devils missed several chances in both halves, Marcus Rashford’s extra time goal sent the English side into the Last Four as they advance 3-2 on aggregate.
Elsewhere, Besiktas beat Lyon 2 – 1, Schalke 04 thrashed Ajax 3 – 2, while the match between Genk and Celta Vigo ended 1- 1.

A fueling station located on Akure Road in Mugbagba area of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, was on Sunday razed along with other adjoining residential and business offices by an afternoon fire. It was gathered that the trouble started at about 4PM when a tanker off-loading fuel at the station, began to emit thick smoke. Soyinka Condemns Call To End BBOG Activities

Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has condemned the call for the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) campaigners to end their actions. Professor Soyinka says the attempt by security operatives to stop the protesters is not in the interest of democracy. He stated his disapproval on Thursday at an event in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria. He Nobel laureate insisted that the BBOG campaigners, who are campaigning for the rescue of the missing Chibok girls, were merely expressing their democratic rights rather than constituting public nuisance. OAU Lecturers Divided Over ASUU Strike, Faction Boycotts

As the 7-day warning strike declared by the national body of the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) enters its second day, a faction of the lecturers at the Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun state have boycotted the nationwide strike. Channels Television’s visit to the university revealed that students are currently having their first semester examination for the 2015/16 academics session under the supervision of the lecturers.
