PDP Leaders Meet In Rivers To Discuss Way Forward

Members of the People Democratic Party National Working Committee are holding a south-south zonal executive meeting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
In attendance are the Governors of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, Bayelsa, Seriake Dickson, Akwa Ibom state, Udom Emmanuel, former governors and the party’s National Chairman, Uche Secondus.

A fueling station located on Akure Road in Mugbagba area of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, was on Sunday razed along with other adjoining residential and business offices by an afternoon fire. It was gathered that the trouble started at about 4PM when a tanker off-loading fuel at the station, began to emit thick smoke. An eye-witness said that the smoke had emitted from the tanker for almost 20 minutes while the staff of the filling station did not pay much attention to it. The fire eventually escalated when a driver who was queuing for fuel suddenly switched on the engine of his vehicle and sparkled off a huge fire ignited from the nearest pump in the station. Soyinka Condemns Call To End BBOG Activities

Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has condemned the call for the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) campaigners to end their actions. Professor Soyinka says the attempt by security operatives to stop the protesters is not in the interest of democracy. He stated his disapproval on Thursday at an event in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria. He Nobel laureate insisted that the BBOG campaigners, who are campaigning for the rescue of the missing Chibok girls, were merely expressing their democratic rights rather than constituting public nuisance.
