Court Orders Forfeiture Of Yakubu’s $9.8m To FG

A Federal High Court in Kano has ordered the forfeiture of the sum of $9,772,000 and £74,000 recovered from a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr Andrew Yakubu, to the Federal Government.

A fueling station located on Akure Road in Mugbagba area of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, was on Sunday razed along with other adjoining residential and business offices by an afternoon fire. It was gathered that the trouble started at about 4PM when a tanker off-loading fuel at the station, began to emit thick smoke. An eye-witness said that the smoke had emitted from the tanker for almost 20 minutes while the staff of the filling station did not pay much attention to it. OAU Lecturers Divided Over ASUU Strike, Faction Boycotts

As the 7-day warning strike declared by the national body of the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) enters its second day, a faction of the lecturers at the Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun state have boycotted the nationwide strike. Channels Television’s visit to the university revealed that students are currently having their first semester examination for the 2015/16 academics session under the supervision of the lecturers. Speaking on the strike and their reason for not joining, the chairman of the Committee of Deans in OAU, Professor Adeagbo Amusan, said that the boycott was in the interest of the students, who had wasted so much time since the start of the session due to incessant strike. “It’s a unanimous decision that much as we are aware of the directive of NEC, we would want our examinations to go on unhindered. 1,000 Days After: Buhari Recommits To Return Of Chibok School Girls

As the world commemorates the 1,000th day of the abduction of schoolgirls from Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, President Muhammadu Buhari has restated the commitment of the federal government in securing the release of the remaining youngsters kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents. In a statement by the Special Adviser to the President, Mr Femi Adesina, Buhari said: “We are grateful to God that on this landmark day, we are not completely in the depths of despair, but buoyed with hope that our daughters will yet rejoin their families and loved ones. “Three of them have been recovered by our diligent military, while the freedom of 21 others was secured through engagement with their captors.
