World Bank, NEWMAP Partner On Imo Erosion Control

The people of Umueze Eziala Obizi autonomous community in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo state are excited about the gully erosion control and site rehabilitation project by the World Bank and Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP). This is because they will in no distant time heave a sigh of relieve as gully erosion, which used to displace many lives and properties in the community will soon become a thing of the past. The cheering news was shared at a town hall meeting organized by NEWMAP in the community to create a rapport between the World Bank project team and the indigenes of the area to ascertain the level of work done on the Obizi gully erosion site. FG Concerned About Welfare of Soldiers

The Minister of Defence, Major General Mansur Dan Ali, says the welfare of officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces remains a key priority of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. He stated this during the commissioning of a Mental Rehabilitation Centre and newly remodeled wards at the 44 Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna State. The minister said the establishment of the centre and rehabilitation of the hospital is a significant milestone of the Nigerian Army’s quest to provide qualitative healthcare for troops and their families. Delta Govt Nullifies All C Of O, Initiates On-Line Registration

The Delta state Government has invalidated all existing Certificates Of Occupancy, with the commissioning of a new ICT Centre for generating online title documents. The digitized C of O can be generated online and in real time. It is expected to enhance businesses and security in the state. Following the new development, landlords have been advised to update their title documents to the new technology, in order to remove all inherent bottlenecks associated with acquiring legal titles for landed property. Delta State, located in the oil rich region of Nigeria, is one of the states with the highest revenue but so far, there has been no proper demarcation of landed property in most parts of the state which is why the government has come up with the initiative. Nigeria Begins 2018 World Cup Quest With 2-1 Win Over Zambia

Nigeria’s Super Eagles began their 2018 World Cup quest on October 9 with a 2- 1 victory over the Chipolopolo Stars of Zambia. The win puts Nigeria top of Group B in the World Cup qualifiers with 3 points. Arsenal striker Alex Iwobi opened the scoring sheet with a goal in the 33rd minute after volleying the ball into the goal post following a defensive lapse by the Zambians. About ten minutes later, Manchester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho extended Nigeria’s lead after scoring a spectacular goal. The Chipolopolo Stars however made a spirited comeback in the 70th minute when Collins Mbesuma scored a goal for Zambia from close quarters after Nigerian defender; Kenneth Omeruo bungled a chance to clear the ball wide. The match which started around 2:30pm at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola ended with a 2-1 goal tally in favour of Nigeria.
